The room right off the kitchen is the dining room. And I had it decorated as a dining room for 10 years.
And we used it maybe 2 days a year.
It seemed so silly. And such a waste of space.
So I moved the dining table into the formal living room and we now use it as a family desk.
Then I was faced with an empty room off the kitchen.
Not quite sure what to do with it, I put in a few pieces of furniture from the previous living room and let it be.
Now this has turned into a laid back, comfortable space that my boys use every single day.
They play school with their stuffed animals here, read, play board games and sometimes do homework on the table.
Because the furniture is older and not expensive, they can be more rough with it and I don’t mind.
The nice big window has a beautiful view of my neighbors siding.
So I bought this cool mirror at West Elm and hung it from the top of the window. It is much prettier to look at.
Some wood beams on the ceiling would look great in here.
It’s on my list.
I’m on number 96.
The fireplace is electric.
I wish I had a beautiful wood burning fireplace in here, but that just isn’t going to happen. And since it costs several thousands of dollars to have a gas fireplace put it, I have learned to love this electric guy.
It’s better than no fireplace at all in my mind.
Hope you enjoyed a bit more of the house tour!
