It is fun to add something unexpected in the most mundane of places.
Like the bedroom doors.
While looking through Christmas ornaments at Target this past December with my oldest son, we ran across the cutest animal ornaments.
There were only 4 different animals, and my son wanted everyone in the family to have one, so I bought one for each boy, and the same animal twice for both my husband and I since we are “the adults”.
Once I got the ornaments home, I realized they were way too cute to hang on the tree for just 3 weeks out of the year.
So, after some serious contemplation, graph drawing, and peer research, I decided to hang them on the bedroom doors.
Just the right touch of whimsy to poke fun at a more serious hallway.
Can’t wait for hardwood floors up here.
My son decided which person should get which animal, but the only one I remember is the fox that he picked for himself, “since I’m so clever”.
Ignore my son’s “must love turtles to enter” sign on his door.
There are many other ways to beef up bedroom doors like paint, wallpaper, and new hardware, but for $2.99 a door and less than 5 minutes for the entire install? No contest.
I figure the kids are only young for a short amount of time. Once they are older I can do something more serious and fancy. Now is the time to celebrate having the young ones around, and it is fun to reflect that in the decor.
So for now, we all enjoy walking into our bedrooms being greeted by our “door animals”.
